i do prefer the 1/2 inch glass. should i put a brace on the top middle part of the aquarium? and also the bottom part? or no need to have the braces? the aquarium will be 4 feet x 2 feet x 2 feet... also prefer a metal stand compared to a thick wood stand.. do i need to strengthen the middle part of my metal stand? so it could hold the weight of my 120 gallon aquarium. also do i need to brace the metal legs of my aquarium stand? please help me guys & gals... thanks! :-)

My local PetSmart has a 36 inch long, 65 gallon set-up by this company and I am considering buying it. However, I am wondering if the stand is strong enough to support such a large, heavy tank for the long term. Do you have any experience with such a stand? It does not appear to be made of solid wood, has a 'heavy duty' laminate. The company's website did not offer many details. Thanks! Unfortunately, the stand/tank combo I am thinking of does not seem to have a model name. Also, Consumer reports and the like do not evaluate aquarium furniture.

ive heard its not safe to build an aquarium stand. the reason though i want to build on is because most of the ones ive seen are ugly. i also heard somewhere that if u get a metal aquarium stand and put wood around it, it would be safer. is this true, and can i do this? the aquarium i want to get is 75 gallons.

I am building an aquarium stand, and i am wondering what the stongest 4x4 is that is readily available. The stand will be 10 feet long and 40 inches wide, and will support approx 5500 lbs. I have the design down and do not mind adding more support if necessary.

Hello, I am considering setting up a 29 or 36 gallon goldfish tank (with only 1 or 2 goldfish). I am looking to find a stand, and see that metal stands are pretty, and are VERY reasonably priced when compared to the crappy fiberboard and (nice) solid wood stands that go for hundreds. Will a metal stand hold all the weight a fishtank creates? Are they safe to use? I have seen them on Big Als, etc...but i want to be sure I can trust them! Please let me know what you think. Also, I'm considering a 55 gallon tank.

Okay.....When i was a kid i got this idea to decorate my aquarium stand. Thing is, I used this stuff called "shoe goo" its like the toughest adhesive i have ever seen. It dries hard as rock and grabs like nothing else. I used it to glue sea shells to the aquarium stand. I don't know what kind of wood it is, but it is very light. I have tried using putty knife but the goo pulls off pieces of wood. how can i get these things off with minimal damage to the stand and how do i cover up the damage?

Recently built an aquarium stand. I decided to paint it black so it stands out less (hey its my first piece of furniture). I'm planning to sand down the surface after it is built and paint it. Question: Do I need to prime the wood with anything before painting? I've got latex (non-oil) semi-gloss black paint. Or do I need to coat it after it is painted? Thanks!

I am thinking about buying a 55 gallon aquarium. However, I don't know which is better, wood or metal. I like metal because its strong, but i've heard is unstable. Also, I like wood but they cost a lot and not as strong as metal. Please Help

My TV armoire and bookshelf are dark espresso colored wood. I'm thinking about staining the aqaurium stand (it's a massive piece of furniture that hold a 75 gallon tank!) to make it a darker color to match everything else. Should I do this or should I just leave it alone?
