we have a metal knick knack stand that is the shape of a 3D stop sign. how can we turn it into an aq
would it have to be several different aquariums, one on top of the other, or could we do what we want, which is to make it possible for the fish to swim up one side and down the other, making it one continious aquarium?

Metal Tube Aquarium Stands sturdy enough? Penn Plax?
I am upgrading to a 55 gallon. I am looking at this http://www.amazon.com/Aquarium-Metal-Deluxe-gallon-Aquarium-TS55/dp/B0002DIUVQ "Knock-down design for quick easy assembly" "Extremely sturdy and durable". Yeah sure. A knock down design to hold a 650+lb aquarium.. I have my doubts. So is there anyone out there with one of these who can say it is or isn't a good idea? I have seen some at local pet stores and they look like they aren't collapsible, made out of iron I think. Would those be any better? Also, how much do these add to the dimensions? An inch? 2?
They are strong enough. Most aquarium stands, especially the ones amateurs like me build, are way over-engineered. I think the first one I ... See More
How do you build an aquarium stand?
ive heard its not safe to build an aquarium stand. the reason though i want to build on is because most of the ones ive seen are ugly. i also heard somewhere that if u get a metal aquarium stand and put wood around it, it would be safer. is this true, and can i do this? the aquarium i want to get is 75 gallons.
For a tank that big, don't make it yourself. It will end up in a very messy, very wet tragedy. The thing is going to easily weigh over ... See More
tanks are only supported along the perimeter of the bottom. the perimeter has to be absolutely true, otherwise the tank bottom will have ... See More
Will a metal aquarium stand really hold the weight?
Hello, I am considering setting up a 29 or 36 gallon goldfish tank (with only 1 or 2 goldfish). I am looking to find a stand, and see that metal stands are pretty, and are VERY reasonably priced when compared to the crappy fiberboard and (nice) solid wood stands that go for hundreds. Will a metal stand hold all the weight a fishtank creates? Are they safe to use? I have seen them on Big Als, etc...but i want to be sure I can trust them! Please let me know what you think. Also, I'm considering a 55 gallon tank.
yes, they do, they are specifically designed to hold the weight, i covered mine with a curtain i made and hung it with a large elastic ... See More
Yes, otherwise they wouldnt be made for fish tanks. I think they are strong enough. You should be fine with one, just always make sure your ... See More
Aquarium Stands: Wooden or Metal?
I am thinking about buying a 55 gallon aquarium. However, I don't know which is better, wood or metal. I like metal because its strong, but i've heard is unstable. Also, I like wood but they cost a lot and not as strong as metal. Please Help
I think wood would be better. See More

How to keep an aquarium from knocking over?
I have a 55 gallon aquarium on a metal stand, I also have two 65lb dogs that I don't want to knock over the tank when I leave! I'd like to know a way to secure the tank to the wall perhaps? Thanks Thanks, didn't think of making a new stand. I'll probably do that and put a wood lip around the edge to make me not worry so much about the tank sliding off.
have u tried putting the dogs outside???, other then that put the tank on a bench until u can get/make a better stand. See More

Bought a 30 gallon metal Aquarium Stand for my 45 gallon. Will this stand hold the weight?
The stand has the scroll front leg supports. Its one of the stands where you can put two (2) of the same size tanks on. 30 gallon tank is 36"L X 12" W X 16" H. 45 gallon is 36"L X 12" W X 24" H.
The sound of that makes me nervous. I would try to look online assuming you don't have the box to how much weight it holds and then you ... See More
No it will not hold the weight. It might for a while, but eventually the legs will buckle, and you will have a huge mess. See More
