Anyone know about special needs of discus fish aquariums?
I've been wanting to start a discus tank, but don't know too much about special requirements. Are they pretty hardy fish? How many can I put in a 55 gal. tank...and can I add them all at once, or only a couple at a time? Is reverse osmosis a requirement? I have a lot of experience with aquariums...but not discus. How do they compare to plain tropical fish and Oscars as far as hardiness? Can they handle variation in water parameters?
As Discus can grow up to 8 inches, they require a minimum tank size of 50 gallons per fish full grown. You could keep a young pair in a 55 ... See More

What are those little tiny frogs pet stores keep in fish aquariums called?
I've always seen them but there's never a label on the tank for them like there is for anything else. The tiny ones, maybe size of a quarter up to a half dollar. What are they called? Do they grow bigger or stay small? I'd like to get a couple for my betta's tank. I just think they're adorable. What do they eat? Would it be ok to put them in with my betta?

Where are some (if any) FRESHWATER aquariums in California?
I know of many saltwater aquariums but I'm much more interested in freshwater. Any zoos with impressive freshwater exhibits are just as good. Please and thank you.

I have a glass 110 gallon aquarium that has the back side broken. The piece measures 60x21.5x3/8. Is there anyway to bond a piece of acrylic instead of glass that will with stand the water and pressure?
You can use acrylic, but you really shouldn't mix glass and acrylic on the same tank. The differences in expansion rates, thicknesses, etc ... See More

planning to have a 120 gallon glass aquarium constructed at a glass company. should i use 3/8 or 1/2
i do prefer the 1/2 inch glass. should i put a brace on the top middle part of the aquarium? and also the bottom part? or no need to have the braces? the aquarium will be 4 feet x 2 feet x 2 feet... also prefer a metal stand compared to a thick wood stand.. do i need to strengthen the middle part of my metal stand? so it could hold the weight of my 120 gallon aquarium. also do i need to brace the metal legs of my aquarium stand? please help me guys & gals... thanks! :-)
whats the height of this aquarium stand?
its a 72 long 19 wide 22tall all in inches Tank... whats the standard size for a metal stand like 3 feet or higher?
if there had to be a "standard" size for a tank stand i would think that it would be 30''

we have a metal knick knack stand that is the shape of a 3D stop sign. how can we turn it into an aq
would it have to be several different aquariums, one on top of the other, or could we do what we want, which is to make it possible for the fish to swim up one side and down the other, making it one continious aquarium?

Metal Tube Aquarium Stands sturdy enough? Penn Plax?
I am upgrading to a 55 gallon. I am looking at this
http://www.amazon.com/Aquarium-Metal-Deluxe-gallon-Aquarium-TS55/dp/B0002DIUVQ
"Knock-down design for quick easy assembly" "Extremely sturdy and durable". Yeah sure. A knock down design to hold a 650+lb aquarium.. I have my doubts.
So is there anyone out there with one of these who can say it is or isn't a good idea?
I have seen some at local pet stores and they look like they aren't collapsible, made out of iron I think. Would those be any better?
Also, how much do these add to the dimensions? An inch? 2?
