Will a metal aquarium stand really hold the weight?
Hello, I am considering setting up a 29 or 36 gallon goldfish tank (with only 1 or 2 goldfish). I am looking to find a stand, and see that metal stands are pretty, and are VERY reasonably priced when compared to the crappy fiberboard and (nice) solid wood stands that go for hundreds. Will a metal stand hold all the weight a fishtank creates? Are they safe to use? I have seen them on Big Als, etc...but i want to be sure I can trust them! Please let me know what you think. Also, I'm considering a 55 gallon tank.

yes, they do, they are specifically designed to hold the weight, i covered mine with a curtain i made and hung it with a large elastic string. that may i could hide all the fish products under it without them being an eye sore.
Yes, otherwise they wouldnt be made for fish tanks. I think they are strong enough. You should be fine with one, just always make sure your tank is level cause ive had this problem before where the tanks leaks cause its unlevel. But that goes for any stand.. and also, i encourage you to look on craigslist. You may be able to find a great setup for under 100 dollars. That is with a high quality filter, wooden stand and canopy, and everything.
I found my 125 gallon with two canister filters, a stand, canopy, air pumps, heaters. all for 150 dollars.
Happy hunting
